After waking up shivering with only a corner of sheet covering my stomach, I was up by 7:30am, showered and dressed by eight and out the door by nine. It was time to move on. Moving on meant the last semi-long bus ride in Ecuador. A four hour jaunt south-east to the semi-ocean, semi-border town of Machala.

It was a real close call. New Years Eve, New Years Day, and debating on a day three. I was really contemplating leaving because even though there were no people around and everything was closed, I still was able to get a feel for the city. All the historical/religious stuff was there and I saw all of it so what was the big deal if people were added to the equation.
