Day 27 Trinidad
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005Blah Blah Blah.
I hope that warns you.
Woke up early this morning to get my shot. Well, about half way there I realized that I did not grab my passport. I figured I screwed up so I might as well find the place and see what I had to do. Maybe they would give it to me without ID. Well, I walked and walked and walked. The guy who wrote the instructions for me did not write down an address or cross street, but just a street name. I walked for an hour and did not find it so I gave up. It was smoggy as hell today. I mean a thick choking layer of smog. I have been on islands the last 4+ years, and all I have breathed is virgin ocean air. Now thrust into this chemical soup, I didn’t like it one bit. I got frustrated and went back to my room to cool off and scrape off the sweaty sludge stuck to my body. Once I recovered, I grabbed my guide book and head off with an idea of where the place was. It took a while but I made it to the street. It turned out to be in the projects, but so what if its 9 am and guys are pounding down the Stag beers. Well, I found the place. Basically, the location was the Health department and they were doing vaccinations for babies and kids. There were people lined from the building to the street all lined up with kids in arms or strollers. Other kids were just doing the Kids Gone Wild thing. I took one look and said screw it. First, I didn’t want to stand in any line, and two, I would feel guilty if some little baby got screwed out of a life saving shot because I was going on a RTW trip. I can be a bastard some times, but not to babies. Gotta draw the line somewhere. After that, I had to take a nap. I just about passed out on the walk home from the crap air and the heat. God I want to get moving.
