Day 1785: Rest day.

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

With my calendar cleared I dub thee a rest day.

Not much to mention. Wake up, swim, eat, nap, swim, relax, swim till sunset, eat, read, sleep.

The end.

Day 1784: Steve´s chore day.

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Even when you are on vacation and especially if you are away for a while, the everyday needs of a normal life still catch up to you. Usually when I am on the move I plan in extra days not always because I have found a great chill spot, a new love of my life, or cable/satellite tv, but for stuff that just has to be done. I usually pick slightly larger towns as they tend to have more of a variety and lower cost for everything. Puerto Escondido fits the mold perfectly, so listing time it was.

Steve´s “to do” list.

1) Shave. As one of the things to do down the list is a haircut I like to give myself a shave so they don´t force it upon me when I am at the barber shop. It also helps to look somewhat reasonable off the beach. Check.

2) Schedule for next destination. Required about a five kilometer walk across the city to the bus station by the airport. Damn it was far but it was nice being in a busy city center with people doing normal stuff rather than chilling at the beach. Schedule and price, check. I always postpone everything until I get the key parts out of the way.

3) Toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton swabs, mosquite coils, and food for lunch. Headed on over to the major supermarket chain to pick these up as they are airconditioned and full of stuff I don´t get to see very often. Check.

4) Internet to check e-mail, check the news, and look up name of medicine I need. It is also 5P in the city center versus 15P on the beach road. Check.

5) Pharmacy for Paracetamol (Tylenol) and cream for sun spots (Tinea Versicolor). Check.

6) Haircut. 30P. Barbershop Lyz.

7) Scout out new hotel area above the tourist street by the fishing boat bay. Found a nice place for cheap. Not sure but I might stay longer to take advantage of this new place. Supposedly has tv but forgot to ask if it was cable. Check/score.

Lunch break when I got home and got to eat my home made tuna sandwiches and fruit rolls.

Nap.

8) Trade my Tom Sawyer book for a new one. Check. Kind of feel jealous of those people who have a place to chill out in the morning and midday having coffee at a cool coffee lounge, I just can´t do coffee. Really jealous of those bastards with their laptops.

9) Sew my pants (slipped on a stupid wheelchair ramp on the first day when I was looking for a place to stay on the tourist road, stupid wheelchair bound people and stupid people spreading sand from the beach.) Not done.

10) An evening swim at the calm bay. Check.

11) Upload new entry “Steve´s chore day.” Check

Now, I am off to bed.
