Package wars are over.
Monday, February 19th, 2007I got my tent today. Two weeks waiting in the sweltering heat of Dar es Salaam. That rounds out all my loose ends. My laptop arrived a few days ago, something that has had me worried for a while as not only is it the value, but it has all my pictures and Counter Strike on it. The box of tourist stuff I sent home actually came in before the laptop and they said it would take up to six months. Now my tent. It has been a good couple of days. I won’t go into details, but I made a lot of phone calls and e-mails working on this stuff and it is good to be over. So far, only one package is MIA. I mailed a back up of my laptop from Bolivia, but they never arrived. Other than that, the mail system has been working. Not efficiently, but it is working. Now I have faith in it again and am willing to mail some more stuff. Thats me, fearless Steve. Need anything from Africa and have up to six months to wait, just let me know.
Tomorrow, I am off to Zanzibar, for what reason I don’t know. I know its going to be hot, and its an island, and its going to be expensive, but its one of those you gotta see it places, so off I go. Myself, I am looking forward to some cool weather, possibly in northern Tanzani. There, Kilimanjara (not climbing it $1000US), Moro… Crater, and the Serengeti. When I started to think about it, really all I am looking forward to is Ethiopia and Egypt. Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Erithrea, not so much. Oh well.
